Today I feel surprised by the intense social discussions on the fairness of the Olympic boxing fight between Iranian Imane Khelif and Italian Angela Carini. So much human energy invested discussing issues of gender, how it is defined and should be…as if it is the cause of the violence.
but little questioning of the ethics of our society’s desire and enjoyment for fighting, physically and in every other form available to us.
I wonder why everyone is not equally as engaged in discussing why any kind of physical violence is still viewed as “normal” at this time in our human history?
For me, it doesn’t make sense to focus debate about social inequities forms of violence, when we don’t even see the moral problem with physical violence yet. For example, why is any type of war still considered normal to us?
I feel that if our societies (countries, governments, etc) began to truly desire to stop all WAR, and then begin to go through an honest process of stopping all forms of physical warfare and death weapons, as soon as possible, then the real underlying corrupted morals would be revealed…that keep our societies co-creating more human violence everyday in every way (physical, social, emotional, spiritual).
Instead of investing our human energy and ideas into ending all kinds of human-to-human physical violence, we continue to focus elsewhere. We seem to be addicted to distracting ourselves from the source of this moral pain within our hearts, minds, and souls.
